How has recent legislation – and heightened enforcement — defining incitement impacted Jewish-Arab discourse since October 7th and the war in Gaza? Has a silencing discourse taken its place? We invite you to join a webinar where we will deepen the discussion on the impact of reduced freedom of speech on dialogue amongst Israelis – Jews and Palestinians.
Freedom of expression is the foundation for the creation, development, and preservation of a shared society, striving to implement democracy as a supreme value.
We will survey the tension between the fundamental freedom of expression and the limits of incitement. We will examine the effects of this tension on activities that promote a shared society, against the background of the complex reality since October 7th and the war in Gaza. We will hear how legal parameters and enforcement policies affect the reality on the ground.
Adv. Samah Darwish – Racism Crisis Center of the Israel Religious Action Center (IRAC) – will discuss the phenomenon from a constitutional and legal perspective.
Gal Eblagon – Rossing Center for Education and Dialogue – will analyze the situation based on her experience facilitating mixed groups.
